Production Supervisor

Job Summary:
Production Supervisor will be responsible for assisting Department Manager in overseeing Cheese Production process. The Production Supervisor will supervise a 24/7/365 operation of workers and equipment in the cheese production area, while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates workers engaged in cheese production, while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.

  • Plays key role in maintaining the quality of the products produced at our facility.

  • Trains employees in work methods and procedures.

  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs/oversees setup and adjustments of machines.

  • Drive training and coaching to ensure compliance with Safety standards and incident prevention.

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in producing dairy products, ensuring all aspects of production are handled at the highest level of quality.

  • Oversees workers in receiving and testing milk and in operations, such as pasteurizing, separating and storing dairy products.

  • Ensures all areas of the plant are following company standard GMP's in their daily production runs.

  • Able to complete and/or assist in the duties of all jobs related to production when circumstances demand.

  • On call 24/7/365 and may be asked to report to the plant during non-regular scheduled hours.

  • Shares responsibility for all aspects of plant functions as it relates to production.

  • Ensure that all routine functions and mandatory paperwork are performed accurately and completed at the required frequencies.

  • May be asked to perform periodic reviews of employees as directed by manager and/or Plant Manager.

  • Address any human resource needs, relating to those being supervised, (in a timely manner) ensuring proper documentation and communication with necessary parties and HC department.

  • Work with plant, corporate and client personnel to resolve day-to-day production tasks/needs as they arise.

  • Examines samples of products, orders change in cooking temperature, and oversees recipe use.

  • Able to produce specified texture and viscosity of product.

Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent computer literacy/skills-work load requires working with data recorded on spreadsheets.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and sampling requirements.

  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, procedures and related documents as needed).

  • Understanding of Corporate and Plant QA policies including implementation and accountability to the policies.


Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in a science related field or a minimum of 3+ years' experience in a food production plant.

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Completion of related college courses a plus.


Non-technical Competencies:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Requires the ability to communicate and document work.

  • Daily use of communication via email, telephone, in written form, or in person.

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.


Work Conditions:

  • Track and maintain information on a database.

  • Be able to move up and down stairs.

  • Occasionally move up to 50 pounds.

  • Able and willing to work at heights of 80 feet or more.

  • Able and willing to work ability to work in refrigerated conditions for extended periods

  • Be able to work at floor level, waist level, and shoulder level repetitively.

  • Be able to work the shift assigned and fill in other shifts as needed.

  • Be able to work weekends (including Saturday and Sunday) and off shifts if needed or assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
